I experimented with evaporating pigment puddles to reference the diminished High Sierra and Cascade lakes I've seen on long distance hikes for the last three summers. In geological terms a regression references receding water levels caused by reduced precipitation. A marine transgression is a geologic event in which sea levels rise relative to the land and the shoreline moves toward higher ground, resulting in flooding.
